Flow Measurement Methods Standalone (SMT-FM-26)
The purpose of this unit is to allow the study and comparison of different methods used to measure fluid flow rates. It enables students and researchers to determine flow rates with precision using various measuring devices and observe pressure distribution in flow systems.
The design incorporates a Venturi meter, an orifice plate meter, and a rotameter, all manufactured with PMMA for durability and clear visibility of flow. Eight tube manometers are included to measure and display pressure distribution across the Venturi nozzle and orifice plate meter. The system is built as a standalone unit and does not require connection to a hydraulic bench. It is equipped with a stainless steel reservoir tank and a centrifugal pump that ensures a continuous and reliable water supply during experiments.
This unit offers practical applications in fluid mechanics studies by enabling direct observation of flow measurement principles and comparison of different flow metering techniques. It is beneficial for academic laboratories as it enhances understanding of theoretical concepts through experimentation and supports learning in hydraulics, fluid mechanics, and engineering courses.
